Howdy Deputy! There has been a jailbreak from the Periodic Table Prison and we need you to rustle up some information on the fugitives. Use the wild wild west web to locate the needed information and fill out the wanted poster on your outlaw element. Use the following guidelines to create a wanted poster on poster paper or in the electonic form (Google Doc or Publisher) to identify it for capture. If you forgot your element, scroll down and you will find the list of names with their elements.
1. Name and Picture. Complete name of the element and picture or a diagram.
2. Alias – Include chemical symbol or other popular names for your element. (For example: He/she also goes by the name of NA)
3. Description: Use plenty of adjectives to describe the element (color, smell, characteristics), mention what is its natural state (solid, liquid or gas), its melting and boiling points.
4. Where can it be found?
a. There are two ways of phrasing the next element of your poster:
- Hangouts- objects that are made using this element (if it is used to make batteries, computers, cars, paper, etc.) For example: You can usually find him/her at the Battery Club (you may include images)
- Often disguised as: objects that are made using this element (if it is used to make batteries, computers, cars, paper). You may include images.
5. Arresting Officer: Who discovered this element?
6. Place of Birth: country where it was discovered.
Birthday: year when it was discovered.
7. Prisoner ID #: You must include the number it occupies in the Periodic Table.
8. Gang: You must tell what group the element belongs to. For example: Known to be a part of the (Metal, Nonmetal, Metalloid) gang. Which other elements are in the same gang?
9. Reference sites (include at least 3).
Here are some websites that can help you. Remember to visit several websites when researching. Do not use Wikipedia!!!

Pick an object or substance from your house. Research what elements from the periodic table make up the object or substance.
Follow the link
5thA 5thB
1. Create your entry (double-click on the padlet wall from the link).
2.Write your name, the name of the object, the name of the elemen, and the symbol of the element.
3. Add an image. (you must first save the image from google search to your computer and then upload on to the wall).

This week we will focuse on the Periodic Table of Elements. We´ll analyze what the atomic number and atomic weight meant. In today‘s activity, students will have to calculate the number of neutrons an element has using information from the periodic table and some formulas. Next, they have to, using Fruit Loops, create the atomic model for that element. These are the formulas:
Atomic number= # of Protons = # of Electrons
Atomic Weight= # of Protons + # of Neutrons
